Institute of Informatics (in Slovak: Ustav informatiky) is one of more than 50 scientific and research institutes of Slovak Academy of Sciences (in Slovak: Slovenska akademia vied), Bratislava, Slovakia.
The Institute is oriented to theoretical and applied research in technical cybernetics, informatics, information technology and artificial intelligence.The scope of activities of the Institute is organized in departments:
- Parallel and distributed computing
- Design and diagnostics of digital systems
- Numerical methods and algorithms
- Speech analysis and synthesis
- Electron beam lithography
- Discrete processes modelling and control
- Sensor systems
- PCB design and production
Research and development areas of Department of parallel and distributed computing:
- Large-scale HPCN and Grid applications
- design of parallel application programs
- developing and maintaining of infrastructures for Grid computing
- design, developing and implementing of tools for Grid applications, automatic workflow composition, interactivity support
- Intelligent and Knowledge oriented Technologies
IISAS provides 54 CPU in different infrastructures (41 in EGEE infrastructure, 8 in test infrastructures of projects CrossGrid, MediGrid and KwfGrid, 5 CPU in training infrastructure Gilda). IISAS also supports applications and users and it is a Certification authority for Slovak users.
