The University of Napoli “Parthenope” is strategically spread over the city of Naples area using historic and modern buildings respecting the heart of each academic faculty.
Formerly known as Naval Institute until the 2001, the University of Napoli “Parthenope” is one of the 5 Universities in Napoli. It is organized in the following faculties:
- Science and Technology;
- Engineering;
- Economy;
- Law;
- Sporting sciences;
Within the Science and Technology Faculty the Department of Applied Science (DSA), with its Laboratories, is active in the fields of the Numerical Model Science using the High-Performance Computing and Grid Computing Technologies.
Our research is about Weather and Marine Forecast Investigations, Grid Instrument Services and Air-Quality model Investigations. DSA is also involved in the boundary research fields of GPGPU using the specific hardware and workstation for tests and also in Parallel Computing for Social Network Business.
All experiments and simulations are running on own Grid built with HPC-Clusters.

The members of DSA work in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory and the research group ARCOS of the University Carlos III of Madrid - Department of Computer Science.
