LOFAR
LOFAR is a low frequency array of many simple antennae distributed over a large area. Together, they form a radio telescope of unprecedented scale that will shed new light to the field of radio astronomy.
Nikhef participates in the implementation of a data archive for long-term storage of the LOFAR data, which is conceived to be on the same scale as the LHC at CERN, meaning petabytes of data per year.
