| What's your role within grid computing? |
| |
My role within the grid computing science is strictly related with the hardware and software infrastructure management, basically I’m the guy who do while my bosses say “we do”! I’m just at the beginning of my career, so I install and configuration grid software, especially under the Linux operating system. I’m fascinated by grid computer based tools for human interaction and collaboration such as video-conferencing. I spread to students my knowledge about the grid having introduction and advanced seminars and tutorials about grid web service programming |

| Why did you get in to grid? |
| |
It is happened by a chance! Since I was a child, I was intrigued by computers, but I never satisfied my curiosity. During my research work for the Environmental Science degree final thesis, I met the Dr. Raffaele Montella, so I had the opportunity to give look inside the “Black Box”. Now I can touch the surface joining my main and side field knowledge (environmental science, computer science… or vice-versa, I can’t say it exactly now!). |
| |
| What did you study at university? |
| |
I studied every kind of Science...Environmental Sciences are a very wide: mathematic, physic, chymistral, biology, marine biology, botany, oceanography, geophysical oceanography and numerical models...so, I need to continue? At the end I chosen that my future would be in the computational science applied to environmental investigation and in 19th April 2007 I defended my thesis in Management of Multidimensional and Distributed Environment Dataset with Grid Computing Techniques. |
| |
| What did you want to be at school? |
| |
I want to be a archaeologist... A scientific archaeologist... A scientific scuba-archaeologist! What happened?! I do not know! But the scientific there is yet and my picture was been make this year on the Oceanography Research Ship in the only sunny day of all mission. |
| |
| What are the highlights of your job? |
| |
With this job I can continuously increase my knowledge. Also every single machine is a power full object and the only limit is the fantasy of mankind. From my personal point of view the computer are very such a human body...there are the heart/CPU, nervous system/BUS skeleton/MAINBOARD and so on. Fortunately there is not yet a brain...but I am sure it is coming soon. |
| |
| What are the lowlights of your job? |
| |
Many time I did all possible and more for improve the research activities but sometime I feel like Don Quixote aganist windmills. |
| |
| What do you do when you're not at work? |
| |
I love go to the cinema, pub and heat the pizza. Also I heat chocolate 70% of cacao or more and read a big book and last sometime make scuba diving...if after all these things I will could dress the wetsuit yet. |
| |
| What are your goals for the next year? |
| |
Buy a car and do more scuba diving. |
| |
| Would you encourage your children to get in to grid and IT? |
| |
Yes, of course! But I think that will not necessary the world of IT is in the life of everyone. When I will have someone children and they ask me to teach something about IT and Grid Computing I will send they to you. |
| |
| What do you want to be when you grow up? |
| |
What a question is it?! The astronaut, of course. But if I must think about this...I do not know with precision maybe I will do what I always do...follow the current of the sea.
